Rebate information

A Mental Health Care Plan or a paediatric referral is valid for two years from the date of referral. However, a maximum of ten (10) individual and ten (10) group sessions with an Allied Health professional are able to rebated in a calendar year. Following the initial course of treatment (maximum of six sessions), individuals can access more sessions upon review of up to 10 per calendar year. After the initial six sessions you will need to have your plan reviewed by your GP to allow for the further four sessions.

When making an extended appointment to see your doctor for a Mental Health Care Plan, ensure that they implement a Mental Health Care Plan (Item 2715, 2717, 2700 or 2701) or that your paediatrician / psychiatrist has specified referral to Dr Simone Heeney in a letter as we cannot rebate you otherwise.

Please note that while a letter will be provided to the referring doctor following the allocated number of sessions according to the plan, outlining assessment results, clinical interpretations and recommendations, report preparation and writing for the purposes of school or other funding, letters for special consideration or other documents requested on behalf of the client are not eligible for Medicare funding and are charged at $320 per hour.

A referral from a paediatrician or psychiatrist through the Helping Children with Autism program (HCWA) provides rebates for up to 4 sessions of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment and diagnostic services for children aged under 13 years, and up to 20 sessions for intervention and treatment for children under 15 years

In the event of an individual meeting the criteria for ASD, a letter will be provided for the purposes of NDIS funding at no extra charge.
